You could say Phil Ferreri’s profession was set in motion almost 70 years ago when a young Sicilian immigrant started working at a local barbershop in Lakefield.

Phil’s father, Giuseppe Ferreri, started planting his roots in Canada with a chair and a pair of shears alongside local barber, Dave Millar, when he was barely 20 years old. He eventually purchased the business from its original owners and turned it into Joe’s Barber Shop, which has been a mainstay on the Lakefield downtown strip since 1952.

Phil joined his father at Joe’s Barber shop in 1992 and has been running the business ever since. While their old school Sicilian-style experience and quality servicing has remained for over 30 years, Phil has worked to elevate his offerings to include hot shaves and fades alongside the classic cuts and trims.

Being a good barber isn’t all about having the skills to do the job well, but also having good communication and being able to adapt to the comfort level of anybody in the chair.

Sicilians are as passionate about their work as they are about pasta, and Phil is no exception.

He takes pride in honing his craft and offering only the best to everyone who walks through his door. But more importantly, he loves the opportunity to connect with people everyday from all walks of life. Being a good barber isn’t all about having the skills to do the job well, but also having good communication and being able to adapt to the comfort level of anybody in the chair. It’s a combination of those components that ties the whole experience together. When you sit down at Joe’s Barbershop you know you’ll receive a great cut, some good conversation, and some of that homegrown community vibe that comes with it.

The opportunity to expand Joe’s Barber shop to Port Perry was a no-brainer. With a similar clientele and general feel, Phil knew this was the next step for his business and decided to take the leap in purchasing Rick’s Barbershop and changing the name to Ferreri Barbershop.

As he looks further into the future, his goals are simple: remain synonymous with a quality haircut experience by continuing to mix that old world reliability with a modern twist.

After 30 years giving great service in Lakefield at Joe’s Barbershop. Phil decided to take his skills and offer the same in Port Perry at Ferreri Barbershop.

CHARLIE

Charlie the Barber has been staple in Port Perry for 5 years. A fellow Sicilian. Also learning his craft from his father. They ran a barbershop in Scarborough. Charlie then moved to Markham where he worked for 15 years. Bringing his 39 years experience to Port Perry, is now giving the same good quality haircuts at Ferreri Barbershop.
